Tennessee Ranked 4th in Nation for Best Business Climate
Business Facilities Magazine has named Tennessee No. 4 on its list of states with the Best Business Climate. Tennessee fell just behind Louisiana, Utah, and Texas on the list. The state also ranked No. 1 for Education: Race To The Top Leaders; No. 2 for Best Infrastructure; No. 2 for Automotive Manufacturing Strength; and No. 7 for Employment Recovery Leaders.” – The Knoxville Chamber of Commerce
Knoxville and Oak Ridge are hard at work on the six strategic priorities at the foundation of the Innovation Valley project. According to the Innovation Valley website, these strategies are:
  • Implement New Aggressive Business Recruitment and Retention Programs
  • Build the Innovation Valley Brand
  • Increase Focus on Talent Retention and Development Regionally
  • Enhance Entrepreneurship and Innovation Opportunities
  • Promote Sustainability Efforts
  • Establish Sustainable Structure and Funding Model

The project would not be possible without the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce and the many public and private investors in the project, and the Innovation Valley Strategic Blueprint outlines the budget, priorities, and targeted recruitment clusters of the project.

As a member of the Knoxville Chamber’s Economic Development committee, I have seen firsthand the growth and potential for this initiative. This five-year strategic plan is focused on such priorities as”implementing new aggressive business recruitment and retention programs” and “enhancing entrepreneurship and innovation opportunities.” Innovation Valley looks to target the recruitment of advanced technology and manufacturing, corporate services, creative media services, energy, and transportation.
